Banned. Dis-allowed. Illegal.
The idea was sound. People would sign up on the Total Roofing website every week, before each forthcoming Denver Broncos game. Depending on how many yards were gained during the opening kick-off, an individual randomly chosen from those who signed up would win a bit of money.
The spot was outlined and written, and the animation completed - on a very short timeline. People loved it.
But, not the NFL. The idea was quickly deemed unlawful - that the giveaway could somehow influence the outcome of a game - and rendered untouchable. That is, nobody would air it for fear of NFL reprisal.
Whatever. We think the spot turned out great. Not to mention all the time and effort spent.
